Health and Safety
1. *CONSULTANCY*

As its Health and Safety advisors, Denver Construction Services retain MPM consultancy and training on an annual Health and Safety contract consisting of the following:
- Updating Health and Safety policy
- Assisting in compiling method statements and risk assessments
- Developing Health and Safety construction phase safety plans
- On site monitoring and accident investigation
- Training and “Tool Box Talks*
- Telephone advise line

2. HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT
This company will, insofar as is reasonably practicable, endeavour to maintain a working environment which gives regard to Health, Safety and welfare of all persons affected by plant and process under our control and in particular to:
- Provide and maintain plant and systems of work which are safe and without risk to health.
- Make arrangements for ensuring the safe use, handling, storage and transport of “Articles and Substances” which are inherently or potentially dangerous.
- Assess, and limit the risks to health, caused by all substances and systems of work used at these premises and to inform the relevant employees of the results of this assessment and the nature of the risk.
- Monitor, on a regular basis the risks to health caused by substances and systems of work used at the premises. This monitoring will be done as an on-going concern.
- Provide comprehensive information, instruction, training and supervision, to ensure, as far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of every employee.
- Maintain the workplace in a safe and risk-free condition and the provision of safe means of access to, and egress from, the workplace.
- Provide and maintain a safe and healthy working environment with adequate welfare facilities and arrangements.
It is also the duty of every employee to:
- Conduct themselves in a safe and healthy way so as not to expose to risk any other employee and;
- To co-operate with the Company in every way so as to enable the Company discharge its duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
3. GENERAL SAFETY MANAGEMENT CHART
A. DIRECTORS
Carry full responsibility for writing and reviewing the company Health & Safety Policy Statement on a regular basis.
Carry sole responsibility for Annual Allocation of Budget funds set aside for Health & Safety Training and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
Is responsible at all times, to set an example to all employees in all aspects of Health & Safety.
B. CONTRACT MANAGERS
Carry responsibility for allocation and implementation of all Health & Safety Literature and individual safety responsibilities for company drillers.
Carry responsibility for the allocation of all Personal Protective Equipment to company employees.
Carry responsibility as contact with Drilling and Sawing Association Societies in all updated aspects of information relating to Health & Safety.
Carry responsibility for issuing method statements and risk assessments
on all works undertaken be it general or specific.
Been certified in successfully completing the Working Safety Course
(approved by the Institute of Occupational Health & Safety)
Carry responsibility of liaison between all employee drillers and management in requirements of PPE and Health & Safety documentation.
C. EMPLOYEE DRILLERS
All employee drillers carry with them at all times the drilling and sawing association code of safe working practice booklet. The booklet itself is issued to each employee and is adhered to at all times with contents acceptance signed for.
Employee drillers also carry individual safety responsibilities in carrying out each individual job under the guidelines supplied, wearing the required PPE for the specific job’s required.
4. TRAINING
- Denver Construction Services are certificated members of the Drilling and Sawing Association.
- Denver Construction Services employ MPM consultancy and training to advise when training needs and “Tool Box Talks” are required within the organisation and course programmes implemented.
- Denver Construction Services employ certificated confined space trained operatives.
- Denver Construction Services employ certificated contractor national safety group safety passport trained operatives.
- All Denver Construction Services Directors and management are CITB/CSCS certificated.
- Denver Construction Services employ First Aid certificated trained operatives.
- Denver Construction Services employ a in house accredited assessor and
member of the independent organisation for licensed verifiers and assessors.
Denver Construction Services ensure that all our staff receive suitable training, instruction and information to do their job safely. All staff receive induction training when they commence, and on going safety training at the various site inductions before each contract starts. Tool box talks are also given on sites regarding any main safety concerns identified.

•All Denver Construction Services drilling operatives are CITB/CSCS trained and certificated. Clients can request sight of any employee certification at any time prior to, or during start of contract.
All operatives carry registered cards at all times confirming competence in each type of machine operation.

• Denver Construction Services recognises the requirement to continue its training and development policy by employing young trainee operatives who can work alongside certificated operatives and embrace supervisory training, craft training and specialist training in specific operations techniques. All trainee operatives are CSCS certificated and supervised at all times by trained operatives.
5. METHOD STATEMENTS / RISK ASSESSMENTS
Denver Construction Services at all times communicates the findings and contents of all risk assessments and method statements to all personnel under its control. Added implementation of signed acceptance in relation to content awareness acceptance is now undertaken at all times.
Full written method statements and risk assessments are available on request for all contract works undertaken by Denver Construction Services.
Site specific, or generic statements and assessments can be provided depending on individual contractors requirements in relation to legal documentation.
All method statements and risk assessments are signed by both Denver Construction Services and main contractor personnel, prior to commencement of works.
COSHH data and risk assessment sheets are provided for all relevant materials required prior to contract. Only trained operatives will be used to follow manufacturers instructions on all material use.
Method Statements / Risk Assessments will specify the requirement for PPE relating to each job type to be worn at all times.

6. Denver Construction Services Limited - Environmental Policy
Denver Construction Services Limited recognises its obligations under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and:-
1. Environmental Protection (Proscribed Processes and Substances) Regulations
1991.
2. Control of Pollution Act 1974.
3. Water Resource Act 1991.
4. Water Industry Act 1991.
5. Special Waste Regulations 1996.
6. Waste Management, The Duty of Care, ACOP.
7. Health and Safety (Emissions into the Atmosphere) Regulations 1983.
8. Town and Country Planning (Assessment of Environmental Effects) Regulations
1988.
9. The Construction (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1996 and other
relevant legislation.
We recognise that present existence and future development of all mankind
are endangered by problems related to global environment. Taking a serious
approach to environmental problems in global terms is an essential condition
to our corporate existence and development as a member of the industry
so closely linked with the environment.
We recognise that all Companies MUST play their part in protecting the environment and we strive to take specific measures to play our part.
We have identified that the main significant environmental considerations of our operations are noise, dust and waste disposal.
We address these issues in the relevant method statements of every job we undertake.
